Creative Inventory Management? Start a rumor…heh heh

I was scanning my shelves today and noted I had 16 boxes of Tamiflu.  I had tried to send 14 of them back to the wholesaler last week but was DENIED.   No.Way.  Do not pass Go, Do not collect $200. No Deposit, No return..shoot.

I was mumbling under my breath about the injustice of it all when Tech Extraordinare (without even looking up from her work) said “What we need is a good old fashioned swine flu scare again”…

Oh yea….

Our Tamiflu capsules are good til 2011. Suspension is getting sent back w/ outdates. Grrr. But, yes, i agree we need another animal-themed flu scare.

Only 16 boxes, what about the 60 some i have at my store AHHHHHHHHHHH
Well, Robert, the problem may solve itself…I see WHO declared an official “pandemic” of swine flu has begun. If the lay media picks up on it and runs with it, we may dump all the Tamiflu in short order…

maybe we should have spider flu next, my partner is a real arachnophobe (not just the usual “i’m a girl, i hate spiders” thing) and would love to see them all slaughtered.

Anyone want to volunteer to head to some foreign land and pick up some avian flu or deer flu or rabbit flu or something and bring it back? I have about 25 boxes to get rid of. We had several people in our town with it and the hospital was going mad calling around for it so I ordered a bunch and now we cannot send it back either 🙁

BTW, whoever volunteers to go out and get the new flu, I promise I will save you a box of it…unless I get a better price!

Do you have enough Cipro? Remember, it’s got to be brand name, no generic, because Cipro is the name we will hear every 2 seconds in the news if there is another anthrax scare. No other quinolone, no tetracycline, it has to be Cipro because sexy Susan Hendricks of CNN says so.

Sixteen? Must be nice.

Every time I walk by the T section on our shelves, I see an overfilled shelf of Tamiflu caps. If one of my coworkers told me, “JRI, we have 100 boxes of Tamiflu,” my first reaction would not be “Holy crap, that’s too much inventory on our shelf!” It would be more like, “Okay, that’s nice. How about we fill the 8 waiting prescriptions now.”

And we’re in the same boat as RxTech 481 – our Tamiflu suspension is being returned via outdates…

I ordered the perfect amount for the scare. Sold everything but the 3 or 4 I like to keep just in case. Then my company sent out a box full of Tamiflu to be quarantined in the pharmacy for employee use. We were to await a directive from the company on how to use it.

Then they send out an email. “Please unquarantine the Tamiflu and return it to your regular stock. The warehouse will not accept any returns on this product.”

Sweet guys.
